Using Kiosk Mode to Mark Group Trainings Completed
The Kiosk Mode feature on the TrainU website allows supervisors to easily mark multiple users as completed for a training course, especially after a group training session. This article walks you through the entire process, from setup to completion.
πΉ Step 1: Director Creates the Group
To begin, the Director must create a group and assign a supervisor.
Go to the Manage Groups tab
Click Add Group
Name the group using a clear and consistent format β we recommend using the date and training title (e.g., April 15 - Food Safety Refresher).
β€ Important: Do not use special characters in the group name. From the list of users below, select the supervisor
Click the Kiosk Mode Permission tab
Add the same supervisor to this section
Click Save Permissions
Finally, click Create Group
πΉ Step 2: Supervisor Uses Kiosk Mode
Once the group is created, the assigned Supervisor can log in and follow these steps:
Click on the Manage tab
Next to the group name, click Kiosk Mode
A new panel will open, allowing the supervisor to add users who attended the session
β Adding New Users
If a participant is not yet in the system, the supervisor can manually add them:
Click the Add New User tab
-
Fill in the required information:
First and last name
Email address (if available)
School assignment
Employment type (full-time or part-time)
Username β We recommend using either the first part of their email (before the β@β) or their employee ID number
Once added, the user will be automatically included in the group.
πΉ Step 3: Marking the Course as Completed
After the group is fully updated, the supervisor can proceed with marking the course complete:
Go to the Course Guide page
Find the course and click on the lesson title to open the course page
Make sure the correct group is selected in the filter
Review the list of attendees and double-check the names
Click Mark Group Complete
Then click Mark Complete and wait for the confirmation message
The course completion will now reflect in your reports the next time you run them.
